A Granger Causal Analysis of Tax-Spend Hypothesis: Evidence from Malaysia

چکیده

In economics, the investigation of association between government revenues (GR) and expenditures (GE) remains an essential discussion because its vital role in policy implication concerning Budget deficit. This paper aims to conduct a causal analysis these two fiscal variables (government revenue expenditure) using financial time-series data covering period from 1990 2019 Malaysia. The analyses used unit root, Johanson Cointegration, Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). Unit root test proposed tested are integrated at level first. Johanson's cointegration disclosed fact that long-run relationships exist variable. Finally, Granger causality reveals one-way relation this unidirectional is which indicates Malaysia, supported by revenues; other words, Tax-spend hypothesis supported. VECM short-run analysis, can affect significantly 11% disequilibrium be corrected short-run. supporting expenditures. study recommends avoid high risk economic problems like illusion, unnecessary burden, inflation policymakers should not imposing tax rate cut budget

The Impact of Human Capital on FDI with New Evidence from Bootstrap Panel Granger Causality Analysis

T his study evaluates the causality relationship between human capital and foreign direct investment inflow in twenty-six OIC (the Organization of Islamic Cooperation) countries over the period 1970–2014. We employed the panel Granger non-causality testing approach of Kònya (2006) that is based on seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) systems, and Wald tests with country specific boot...

Granger-causal analysis of GARCH models: a Bayesian approach

A multivariate GARCH model is used to investigate Granger causality in the conditional variance of time series. Parametric restrictions for the hypothesis of noncausality in conditional variances between two groups of variables, when there are other variables in the system as well, are derived. These novel conditions are convenient for the analysis of potentially large systems of economic varia...

The Dividend Clientele Hypothesis : Evidence from the 2003 Tax Act ∗

In this paper, I test the dividend clientele hypothesis (DCH) by examining the impact of the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003 (the 2003 tax act) on household portfolio dividend yields. The DCH predicts that the 2003 tax act, which reduced the tax-disadvantage of dividends differentially across the income distribution, would cause high income households to shift their portfo...

Macroeconomic Granger-causal Dynamics in Croatia: Evidence Based on a Vector Error-correction Modelling Analysis

In the paper the causal relationships between money and other macroeconomic variables such as output, interest rate, prices and exchange rate in Croatia were analysed. The basic principle of Grangercausality analysis is to test whether past values of monetary variable help to explain current values of output. Multivariate causality tests were performed in a vector autoregression (VAR) model. Th...

A MATLAB toolbox for Granger causal connectivity analysis.

Assessing directed functional connectivity from time series data is a key challenge in neuroscience. One approach to this problem leverages a combination of Granger causality analysis and network theory. This article describes a freely available MATLAB toolbox--'Granger causal connectivity analysis' (GCCA)--which provides a core set of methods for performing this analysis on a variety of neuros...
